QRDI Council Conclude Their Trip to Singapore as Part of the Global Innovation Exchange Program

Doha, Qatar, 31 October 2024: The Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council has concluded its trip to Singapore, which took place in October 2024, in collaboration with Enterprise Singapore as part of the Qatar Global Innovation Exchange Program (QGIEP). On this trip, the QRDI Council was accompanied by delegates from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Transport, Public Works Authority 'Ashghal', Qatar Investment Authority, Mowasalat ‘Karwa’, Mwani Qatar, Qatar Navigation ‘Milaha’, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), Gulf Warehousing Company, Qatar Airways, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Hamad bin Khalifa University and Qatar University.

This initiative connected Qatari transport and logistics stakeholders covering industry, government, and academia, with their counterparts abroad, encouraging knowledge exchange and collaborative innovation. This exchange of knowledge encourages innovation partnerships and accelerates industry growth within Qatar.

Sheikh Abdulla Al Thani, Manager of International Partnerships at QRDI Council, said, “We were thrilled to embark on this journey that connected stakeholders from the transport and logistics sectors with international innovators and government institutions. The QGIEP was designed to help businesses to grow through building R&D and innovation collaborations and to inspire collaborative solutions that drive sustainable industry growth in Qatar.”

During the trip, participants engaged in a series of enriching visits and discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration in the Transport and Logistics sector. The itinerary featured notable organizations such as the NCS Hub, Toll City Logistics, and the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center, where attendees discovered the latest technologies and industry practices.

Additionally, participants explored Changi Airport and the PSA Innovation Centre, gaining insights into advanced logistics and transport operations. The trip concluded with a forum that brought together Singaporean companies to discuss potential collaborations in logistics technology, mobility, and maritime sectors, paving the way for innovative growth in Qatar.

The Qatar Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (QGIEP) plays a crucial role in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by creating a collaborative ecosystem among local stakeholders in industry, government, and academia. By connecting these stakeholders with international peers, QGIEP enhances knowledge exchange and innovation, which is vital for economic diversification and sustainable development.
