Their cooperation will bring together the latest innovators and innovative technologies which will help realize QRDI 2030 and address opportunities relating to Qatar’s key national priority sectors.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Omar Ali Al-Ansari, Secretary-General of QRDI Council, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Khater, Vice President and Chief of Strategic Procurement of Barzan Holdings, during the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX), a leading platform for leaders in the maritime defense and security industry. The cooperation will be realized through the QRDI Council-led Qatar Open Innovation program which aims to support the operational goals for Barzan Holdings and Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and drive the innovation ecosystem forward in addition to highlighting Barzan Holdings’ offerings to the network of resources available on the QRDI Portal.
“We developed QRDI Strategy 2030 as a roadmap to expand Qatar’s innovation ecosystem and the foundation of the strategy encourages collaboration across local and global entities,” stated Eng. Omar Ali Al-Ansari, Secretary-General of the QRDI Council. “We are therefore very pleased to add Barzan Holdings to our network of partners because it is through these partnerships with key entities in the country that QRDI Council enables bilateral knowledge exchange, promotes private sector innovation, and further enhances the innovation ecosystem in Qatar. We look forward to working together with Barzan Holdings to help drive synergies among proponents of innovation in Qatar and beyond.”
The Council offers initiatives such as Qatar Open Innovation, the Corporate Innovation Leaders Program and the QRDI Portal that work collectively with local partners to co-develop and pilot innovation in Qatar. The aim is to establish Qatar as a hub for innovation, attracting the best talent and cutting-edge technology thereby helping fulfil the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Barzan Holdings has also previously participated in QRDI Council’s Corporate Innovation Leaders Program which leverages innovation through partnership to enhance the innovation ecosystem in Qatar. Working closely together, both parties are committed to boost productivity in Qatar’s priority sectors through locally empowered and globally connected innovation platforms.
